In an ever changing culture, we recognize one constant for certain. That is, the effort and attention that we choose to invest in our youth. We have identified a decline in the number of students who desire to participate in organized athletics. As a result, the number of student athletes going on to attend college has declined. More youth are being exposed to earned income at an early age, diverting their attention from athletics and the opportunities they may present to obtain a college degree. This is just one factor to which the decline can be attributed. Moreover, we believe that athletics offer a productive use of “free time” that may otherwise be squandered on fruitless activity.
Partners in Lifting Athletic Youth (P.L.A.Y.) will use numerous resources to encourage more high school students to become involved in athletics in their respective schools. Since the implementation of athletics in the academic setting, the athletic experience has served as an extension of the classroom and has played an intricate part in the development of our young people. We will also dedicate our efforts to exposing more student athletes to colleges as well as the college admissions process. We will assist coaches and parents as we team up to guide and prepare young people for life after high school.
